Birthday 2014

It's finally time for a new post! I don't post often enough do I? Well, I never know what to write! XD

I had a quiet birthday this year; just went out to the shops with my mother and brother.

One of the presents I received was this gorgeous dress: Baby the Stars Shine Bright's 'Versailles Rose Bouquet' Jumperskirt in Red! (≧∇≦)

We visited a tea room located on a barge. It was very sweet! I tried a special blend of tea called 'Snow White'. To be honest, I can't quite remember what the tea tasted like, but it must have been good, right? XD

I also received Misako Aoki's Lolita Fashion Book! <3

Paris - KAMIJO LIVE 2014

4th July 2014 was KAMIJO THRONE - Zeroth live in Paris. I went there with my Mummy, staying two nights in Paris - this is a report of my time there. Some of this was written at the sleep-deprived early hours of the morning, and other parts were written after only having 7 hours sleep in 48 hours. So sorry if it comes across as disjointed - I've tried my best to fix mistakes.

NIGHT BEFORE THE LIVE

Perhaps it is the nature of the place; something in the air in the City of Love, but the first night in Paris brought about my inferiority complex with a monstrous force.
I can not sleep. It is hot. There are cars going by outside, their noise a disturbance. And, what I find the most irritable; the television is showing its red standby light (fixed into the wall impossible to turn off - I tried), that one small light piercing the tranquil darkness. And for virgo like me, who needs things just so, this a problem.
My mind, my brilliant, finite mind, is alive and buzzing as always. It is my greatest weapon and my folly.
It is not that I don't feel good about my body, I like the way I look. But I could be the most beautiful primrose at all but never be a rose.
I pause, pick up the white rose I held today, lying at the side of the bed and hold it in my fingers. It is pure and beautiful, wholly untouched. I wish my heart to be of the selfsame qualities as well, golden and bright, but I know thorns have already pierced it. This rose will never wilt and die; it is artificial and perhaps the more enchanting  for its plastic lies.
But all things most come to and end, even though I feel my story has not yet started and I'm waiting for the first page.
Some stories pause mid-chapter, the pen has run dry and the writer needs a break. We will wait, as we must. Have faith, for gardens will bloom in their own time.
Sleep well sweetie, I'll see you in the morning.
And dearest flower, I'll see you as soon as I can.

DAY OF THE LIVE - BTSSB PARIS

The next day is the day of the live.
I don't start getting ready until the afternoon, so Mummy and I needed something to do in the morning. We had originally planned to just look around nearby, but then I thought:
'Isn't Baby (the Stars Shine Bright) near here?' I checked the map. It was only about 2 miles away. So we walked to Baby the Stars Shine Bright. Yey!!! I got to go to the Baby store!
When we arrived, I was in awe. So much beautiful clothing. <3 I had a sense of inadequacy. My mother kindly bought me this headdress. I was so pleased!

Then, we found lunch at a Japanese restaurant. After some sushi (yummy) sashimi (tolerable) and some weird pink thing (absolutely awful, never again), it was time to get ready back at the hotel!

BEFORE THE LIVE

It took me about 1- 1 1/2 hours to get ready? I wanted to do my hair in a hime style and make sure to accessorise my outfit well. Roses everywhere!

We got a taxi to the venue. It took some time because it was during the rush hour and the roads were busy, so busy. >.< But the driver was very friendly and he was singing along to the French national anthem from the football on the radio! (Haha)
But finally, finally we arrived at the venue. In the queue, I found it hard to talk much to anyone, because I'm quite shy (also my French is very poor.) Everyone seemed very friendly though.
A lady from Kamijo France was taking Polaroids of the fans and asking them to write messages for Kamijo in a book. I can't compose well on the spot. I'm afraid my message was poor. (´・_・`)
At the same time, another lady (in a gorgeous Kamijo cosplay) gave us some rose petals to throw during La Vie en Rose. What a lovely idea. It was done to great effect. There was also a French flag for us to sign for Kamijo.
Also while we were waiting there was a photographer who took pictures or the fans. I don't think I made a very good picture. (・・;)

Waiting, waiting...
VIP ticket holders went in.
Waiting, waiting some more...
Finally, we were allowed in!

KAMIJO LIVE

When we went into the venue, I was worried about being too far back, but actually I was about the 5th or 6th row. So close!
When it neared the starting time, the audience started chanting 'Vive le Roi!'
The curtain parted and Meku, Ikuo and Shinya appeared and got the audience to chant 'Vive le Roi!' with them in rhythm. Then Kamijo appeared!
*\(^o^)/*
He sang all of his solo works, including new songs Yamiyo no Lion and Bastille (an upbeat, energetic song), also some lyrics from God Palace and a Lareine song.
The audience held their red roses up and waved them around in time to the music. Actually, I had brought two roses; one red and one white. Those roses together symbolise unity right? I wanted to show the union between Kamijo and his fans...or something. I know, it sounds a silly idea now! >.< I held up my roses together mostly, but sometimes I would hold up just white or just red according to the theme of the song. I wonder if Kamijo noticed... (haha.)
The audience was very warm and friendly. And really considerate I felt; there was no screaming over the songs. I'm glad.

As for the man himself...
Kamijo is...Kamijo. XD
I am unable to find the words to describe him, for none would be right. To see him in real life is something of a dream (?)
A lovely, lovely gentleman.
He looked so happy, there on stage. He shines so bright.
I really enjoyed the live. I sincerely hope Prince Kamijo also enjoyed it, for his happiness is important. ^^
I feel like this should inspire me to reach for things that would give me happiness. But...
I feel that is not for me.
As long as dear roses are happy then it is okay.
Ahh! I'm feeling like I'm imparting a great secret of myself by writing these things. I'll speak no more on the matter.

Well, it's all over now. I want to see Kamijo again. And maybe even meet him in person..(?)
Also I really want to see Jupiter next time they come to Europe, because I missed out this year. Hime...

Thank you for reading. This is the longest post I have done - sorry for any mistakes or rambling. (u_u)

Summer International Lolita Day 2014

A couple of weeks ago was International Lolita Day! (Abbreviated to ILD.) ILD is a twice yearly date (first Saturday of June and first Saturday of December) that celebrates Lolita Fashion.

My ILD this time was a very quiet one. I was just at home with my family, but I still dressed up and I have some photos to share with you.

Anyone else celebrate ILD? What did you get up to?

I like baking - Why everyone should bake

During my school years, I used to bake a lot. But for a few years I had stopped doing any baking - mainly due to college work and other interests preventing me from having the time.
It is only in the last few weeks that I have been baking again - and I love it. :D I only do simple things, cupcakes, cookies and the like, no fancy decorations (although I do appreciate the prettiness of sugar craft), but I feel that it's nice to do things yourself isn't it?
I find baking very therapeutic- for a moment, it allows me to step away from my worries and do something which I find very comforting. Plus, you get to eat and share yummy thing at the end! *\(^o^)/*
Also, baking is easy, especially if you start with simple recipes. Give it a try sometime?

A post about tea

It is no secret, that I am a lover of tea. But, only a year ago, I had very little experience within the world of tea, having only ever drunk just plain, boring black tea (milk, no sugar) and little else. I would occasionally divulge in a cup of Earl Grey, but that was about it.
Until one day, I was in L'Occataine purchasing a gift for a dear friend of mine. I was asked by the assistant 'Would you like some herbal tea?'
Me (apprehensive) "Um, okay."
Assistant brings the tea. I wait a little while for it to cool, then take a tentative sip. And another and another. 'Hmm, this is actually quite nice isn't it.'
So, the next time I'm at the supermarket, I decide to buy three boxes of tea. Strawberry & raspberry, Camomile & spiced apple and Nettle & blackberry.
I try the Strawberry and raspberry first. It has a light, sweet flavour - a tea for the summer. The. The the Camomile and spiced apple - the flavours are good for autumn or Christmas. And the Nettle and blackberry (which I've only started quite recently after it laying in the back of the cupboard for some time - see the next paragraph) has a nice refreshing flavour. Although, I don't enjoy it as well as the other two.
After about two or three weeks (?) of getting used to these teas, I buy two boxes of green tea (one with lemon, one without). The ultimate test! (haha)
I discover...
I really like green tea! I do! Now I drink it every day. Actually the one with lemon reminds me a bit too much of hot lemon drink (there's nothing wrong with that, but as there's is not much distinction... XD)
I've also tried chai latte. It tastes like a gingerbread house . ^.^ I was offered it when I was at the picture framers, getting a frame for a magazine page of my dear Princess (from Rock and Read).
But, possibly the loveliest tea I've tasted thus far is rose tea. It's actually black tea (Ceylon) with rose. Ah, but it's so lovely. <3
And, for Easter I received this lovely box of tea. I already like it by the packaging (red bow, roses).

Getting back to me - 2 outfits

Hello. ^^
I thought I'd post a couple of outfits I'd worn recently - it had been a while since I last dressed up. Not to go into too much detail, but let's just say I had become quite ill, so I was glad I was able to wear pretty clothes and feel more like myself again :)

A simple sweet lolita outfit I wore around the house at the weekend

Detail of the print of the dress and my shoes ^^

I wore this outfit yesterday to town to meet a very special friend of mine I hadn't seen in a few weeks. I was so happy to meet her; she really cheered me up. XD I guess I had been feeling a bit lonely?

What do you like to do to cheer yourself up? I'd love to hear lots of suggestions. :)

'Kate Spade New York by Nails Inc' nail polish review

I recently bought this month's GLAMOUR (UK) magazine. I have to admit, one of the factors that encouraged me to make the purchase (okay, maybe the sole factor), was the fact that it came with a free bottle of nail polish (Nail Inc) worth £11! And since the magazine was only £2, it didn't mind spending it.

The full polish is available in four different shades: black, silver, gold and red. I chose the red one, because I have such a penchant for the colour. It's a 10ml bottle, which is about standard size (I think). I was a little worried that the size would be compromised.

I used a standard basecoat and two coats of colour. This picture was taken a day after I had applied it and as you can see, it's already starting to chip. Which is actually not too bad for me, as I tend to find my polish chipping right away.
Other hand
When applying the nail polish, I found it glides on really well, almost too well; I found it difficult to not get it messy, especially with the shape and size of the lid. I like the colour, but I find that in artificial light, it looks a bit, well cheap, which is a bit disappointing. I've now worn the polish quite a few days and have found it's chipped quite considerably on some nails.

Overall, I like it, it's a nice colour and fair quality. But would I buy it again at full price? No.

Thanks for reading.
